The Year is Over

What a fabulous year it has been for Virtuosi!

It started in the north of the state followed with the five day Coal Valley Chamber Music Festival in the south. The Festival was a new initiative of Virtuosi and will be repeated in 2010. The April Series saw us perform Mozart and Beethoven at Holy Trinity Church, Cressy, as part of their celebrations. This was a new venue for us, one which we hope to use again in 2009. If you missed the Berwald Septet and Françaix Octet in September, you realy missed something. This delightful concert typified the strength of Virtuosi Tasmania to be able to draw wonderful musicians from the TSO to play larger mixed ensembles. In October four Vivaldi concertos were played to a packed barrel room at Home Hill and the historic, regency ballroom at "Mountford" was filled for both concerts the following day. The Viva Vivaldi concert saw the Lazaroff sisters play together for the first time and featured the delightful oboe playing of Dinah Woods. Our Program Notes / 2008 has all the program details for the year.

We are now busy with the 2009 program during which we hope to bring chamber music to new venues in regional Tasmania. When all the dates and details have been finalised we'll post them on Concerts in 2009 to replace our 2008 program.

Thank you to all those who attended concerts and a big thank you to those who donated to Virtuosi during the year, especially those who joined Virtuosi with their $10 membership. Your contributions are important and helps us to bring chamber music to regional Tasmania.

If you can't wait for next year to hear Virtuosi play, visit our Experience Virtuosi page. We'll try and change the music monthly.
