Lucy Carrig-Jones was born in Adelaide and started playing the violin at the age of four. After completing her Bachelor of Music with William Hennessy and Beryl Kimber at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, Lucy studied for two years in Germany with Greek violinist Stelias Kaftantaris. In 1993 Lucy was invited to represent Australia in the Jeunesse Musicales World Orchestra with whom she travelled much of Europe and Canada

In 1994 Lucy returned to Adelaide to take up the position of Principal Second Violin in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and played as a member of the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra.

Lucy took up the position of Principal Second Violin with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in 1996 also appearing as soloist and concertmaster. She has played regularly with Virtuosi Tasmania and the Elanée Ensemble, including recordings and live broadcasts.

Lucy started teaching violin at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in 2009.
